Description

Chauvin Arnoux CA6472 Earth & Resistivity Tester

Product Description:

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6472 Earth and Resistivity Tester is a highly sophisticated instrument that can perform a full range of earth and ground tests: soil resistivity (Wenner and Schlumberger models), earth coupling, ground potential measurement, and continuity/resistance (two-wire or four-wire). A range of different measurement techniques can be used with the tester including three-pole, four-pole, four-pole selective and earth loop measurement with two clamps. The tester’s resistance range varies depending on the measurement technique used but the largest possible range is 0.01Ω to 99.9kΩ and ground voltage can be measured between 0.01mV to 65V. A very large frequency test range (41Hz to 5078Hz) allows the user to test the performance of earthing structure should the system be struck by lightning.

Two different operating modes make the Chauvin Arnoux CA6472 an ideal instrument for both experts and less experienced users. Automatic mode allows tests to be triggered with a single button after being selected via the simple rotary switch. The default test is executed at 128Hz but the tester will choose the most appropriate frequency in the event of interference voltages. Accuracy is aided by the tester’s capacity to reject interference voltage up to 60V. In Expert mode, the user can select specific measurement parameters (frequency, frequency scan, voltage etc.) and access additional readings to help interpretation and analysis.

Setting up the Chauvin Arnoux CA6472 for testing is aided by colour-coded terminals and intuitive operation as well as a useful information sheet in the lid of the tester. Additionally, the tester has automatic input recognition which alerts the user if the corrections are incorrect or missing, thus aiding safety and accuracy. Up to 512 test results can be stored on the instrument’s internal memory and then transferred to a PC via the supplied USB cable where Chauvin Arnoux DataView software helps to analyse and decode the figures.

The Chauvin Arnoux CA6472 has IP53-rated casing which helps keep it dry and secure when working in the field, as well as keeping the user safe in dangerous or noisy environments. It comes supplied with a mains adapter and cable for recharging the battery, data export software, a USB cable and two C182 clamps whilst a 12-month warranty is supplied by the manufacturer.

Chauvin Arnoux CA6474 Adaptor for Pylon Earth Measurements

An impressive function of the Chauvin Arnoux CA6472 is its ability to carry out testing on pylons with earth cables when working in tandem with the Chauvin Arnoux CA6474 Adaptor for Pylon Earth Measurements. Earthing is a very important part of pylon structure as it allows lightning to discharge safely to earth without affecting the high-voltage line. This test function means that the earth cable on a pylon need not be disconnected when testing earth resistance which is both safer and faster. By attaching 4 current sensors to the feet of the pylon, the tester and adapter work together to determine the earth impedance of the structure precisely and selectively, thanks to the large frequency range of the CA6472. By using the two devices together, measurements can be acquired for parameters including overall earth resistance of the line, resistance of the pylon under test, resistance of each pylon foot and resistance of the earth cable between the pylons. You can add the Chauvin Arnoux CA6474 to this purchase by clicking the check box above.

📦 UK Delivery Options

We work with both Royal Mail and DHL to offer reliable and flexible delivery across the UK:

  • Royal Mail – Best suited for lighter parcels and for customers in remote regions, including the Highlands, Islands, and Northern Ireland.
  • DHL – Ideal for most mainland UK orders, providing fast, tracked delivery and excellent reliability for time-sensitive shipments.

Our checkout system automatically displays the available delivery services for your postcode and order weight, ensuring you always see the most suitable options.

Note: Heavy, bulky, or freight-only orders will be charged separately.
Our website is designed for quick, transactional purchases rather than bulk or palletised orders.
Please contact us in advance for a tailored freight quotation if your order falls into this category.

⏱ Dispatch & Delivery Timing

We aim to dispatch all in-stock orders promptly, but delivery depends on both when you order and which service you select.

  • UK orders: placed by 2:00 PM Monday–Friday are usually dispatched the same day.
  • International orders: placed by 2:00 PM Monday–Thursday are usually dispatched the same day.

Orders placed after these times are processed the next working day. This means delivery may occur the following day or later, depending on the courier and service selected.

Once dispatched, your chosen delivery service determines how quickly your parcel arrives:

  • Standard services We use Royal Mail Tracked 24 or DHL Parcel as our ‘Standard’ services. They are not guaranteed to arrive next working day.
  • Premium services (e.g. Royal Mail Special Delivery or DHL by Noon) offer guaranteed delivery windows.

If your order is time-sensitive, we strongly recommend choosing a guaranteed service or contacting us before ordering to confirm availability.

Please note: For logistical reasons, we may occasionally adjust the delivery method selected at checkout. For example, smaller items may be better suited to letterbox-friendly packaging or may be at greater risk of delay or loss via certain services. We actively monitor courier and postal service disruptions—including strikes and delays—and may modify shipping arrangements to help ensure timely and secure delivery.

📅 Busy Periods & Delays

We always aim to dispatch promptly, but delivery times may be affected by:

  • Seasonal demand (e.g. Christmas, bank holidays, or industry shutdowns)
  • Courier network delays outside our control
  • Supplier lead times or calibration requirements for certain equipment

If your delivery is time-critical, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm stock and courier availability.

🌍 International Shipping

We ship worldwide using UPS Express Saver® and other trusted global courier partners. All international shipments are tracked and generally dispatched Monday to Thursday to ensure smooth customs clearance and transit.

Estimated delivery times:

  • Europe: 1–2 working days
