Uniquely designed to make clamping into difficult applications as simple as possible, the Testo 770-2 is an excellent choice for any professional electrician.
The 770-2 is the upgraded version of Testo’s 770-1 clamp meter. The main difference between the two is the 770-2 includes a μA current measurement mode plus the ability to measure temperature via the use of a type K thermocouple.
Unlike other clamp meters on the market, the Testo 770-2 doesn’t have standard jaws which open like a clamp. Instead, one side of the jaws snaps downwards, leaving you with a hook to slide around a wire. Once done, let go of the trigger and the side of the jaws will snap into place, completing the clamp. This makes it significantly easier to loop around smaller wires and connect in difficult applications, allowing you to work much more efficiently.
The Testo 770-2 includes a full suite of electrical measurement functions. It can test AC/DC current from 0.1 to 400A, voltage from 1mV to 600V (AC/DC) and also tests resistance, μA current, frequency, capacitance, temperature, continuity and diode.
To ensure accuracy when testing on irregular waveforms the Testo 770-2 is true RMS and always produces reliable results.

- The three instruments in the testo 770 clamp meter family are ideally suited for current measurement in switching cabinets. One of the two pincer arms can be fully retracted into the instrument. This unique grab mechanism means that cables in tight switching cabinets can be easily grabbed. The automatic measurement parameter detection also ensures reliable work: in the current and voltage area, all three instruments detect direct and alternating current and select other parameters such as resistance, continuity, diode and capacitance automatically.
- The testo 770-1 model is the standard version for daily measuring tasks, including starting current measurement.
- The testo 770-2 also has a μA range as well as an integrated temperature adapter for all type K thermocouples.
- In addition to that, the testo 770-3 includes real-time power measurements (Watts), Power Factor, and Bluetooth. The free Testo Smart App can be used for remote viewing, monitoring, data logging, and creating reports via Bluetooth. The powerful app allows you to create custom reports that include photos, data, and graphs that can be saved or sent via email.
